Xtreme Brake

Doubles Drum Life

Brake Lining Thickness Graph

Uniform Thickness Lining

XTREME Brake uniformly distributes heat and shear load over a larger surface area. Unlike crowned brakes which offer initial surface contact in the range of 30-40%. XTREME Brake makes 100% initial surface contact. This distributes loads rather than concentrating them, greatly extending lining and drum life.

Heat checks from drum cracking are greatly reduced. It also reduces debris entering the wear surface, reducing scoring of the brake drums as debris collects in rivet holes. By eliminating rivet holes, loads are distributed even more broadly.

50% Longer Lining Life

Brake Lining Surface Graph

Increased Lining Surface

XTREME Brake improves lining wear an average of 30-50% by adding 26 square inches of additional surface area through elimination of rivet holes and tapers. Our linings also supply nearly 40% more cubic lining material than riveted Q style brakes.

By maximizing the amount of lining material which contacts the brake drum, stopping power is increased a whopping 9% while lining and drum life are increased an average of 30-50%.

Xtreme Core Construction

Web Ends Comparison

Superior Construction

XTREME Brake has doubled the primary wear surface area, 0.62" thick web ends compared with the standard 0.31" web ends. XTREME Brake has 100% more surface area eliminating "mushrooming" and increasing the durability of the web.

XTREME Brake tables are constructed of stainless steel in lieu of mild steel, eliminating rust jacking potential and creating a stronger shoe since stainless steel has a typical 30% higher tensile and yield strength than mild steel. Furthermore, it does not rely on coatings for corrosion resistance.

XTREME Brake shoes utilize full seam weld construction in lieu of stitch or spot welded shoes to add greater strength, less fatigue, and greater rigidity. EXTREME Shoes are built XTREMELY strong, and built to last.

Stop Cracks From Rust Jacking

Stainless Steel Construction

Stainless Steel Construction

With road salts and harsh chemicals, rust jacking is a major culprit in premature lining failure. The XTREME Brake utilizes a stainless table to eliminate damaging corrosion, that causes swelling and cracked linings. With XTREME Brake rust jacking is a thing of the past.

Eliminate Core Hassles

Elimnate Core Hassels

Eliminate Core Hassles

XTREME Brake can save you labor, cost, and time because they are designed to be re-lined right on the wheel end or in your shop.

Stainless steel tables and beefed up shoe construction eliminate the need for re-conditioning the shoes. Cores stay with your vehicles, eliminating the hassles of handling, storing, and accounting for the brake cores.

9% Better Stopping

EBI Stop Test

Increased Stopping Power

XTREME Brake stops an average 30 feet shorter from 60 mph than riveted brakes using same brake lining. These independent lining tests were conducted by Radlinski & Associates, in East Liberty Ohio.

The study compared stopping distances of riveted brake shoes fitted with Abex 685 vs. XTREME Brake shoes with Abex 685 under identical operating conditions. Test samples were used “out of the box” with new drums.

Saves Up To 30 - 50% Off Total Fleet Brake Cost

Less Brakes

Fewer New Brakes

XTREME Brakes maximize lining to drum contact, dramatically reducing the number of brake jobs required in most fleets. Fewer brake jobs mean lower cost.

Less Brakes

Lower Re-Line Cost

XTREME Brake new low price means XTREME relines are generally less expensive than re-lined brakes form a local re-liner.

Less Drums

Fewer New Drums

With XTREME Brake, drum life typically doubles or triples in fleet trials. Thus you can typically cut your cost of new brake drums by at least 50%.

Less Labor

Less Total Labor

Cores remain with the vehicle, and can be re-lined right on the wheel end reducing labor costs. This also eliminates the hassles and expense of handling and accounting for cores.
